Here’s a question probably already asked… but where can one find the complete HATN Top Gear session from July 1973 (For Robert/For Cyrille/ etc etc). Only For Robert on Hatwise Choice [has appeared] and all other bootlegs from searches have the three other [BBC] sessions.

This is the one you're looking for. Unfortunately it's the only one the BBC did not keep, which is why it's hard to find. Quality is off air but it's listenable enough. Hoping one day this will reappear as a better off air recording. At the time of `Hatwise Choice' I was somewhat thrilled to get emails from Pip (and indeed Dave S) asking if I had a good copy. I'm presuming it's mine that was used on Hatwise. Unfortunately both emails were to my work address at the time and are long gone !!
- Steve Dinsdale

To Steve Dinsdale: much appreciated…thanks for sharing … yes I did wonder why most bootlegs didn’t have it on and only one track on HATWISE Choice. It sounds great... with some judicious eq-ing and modern technology jiggery-pokery it could sound top notch 😁

If Richard or Dave (or other legit person / organisation) were to produce a Vol 3 I have a full copy of this session I recorded from air via my old man’s Quad receiver onto a Revox reel to reel tape recorder so it is good quality. Before anyone asks I don’t think it would be appropriate to share it (🤣) without their permission.
- Peter Turville

To Peter Turville: send it to Richard, he’d probably be interested in putting it on his Bandcamp page.
- William Robertson

Re: HATN ‘missing’ 31.7.73 BBC session. Unfortunately I no longer have the original reel to reel tapes (don’t know what my old man did with them after I left home). However he did ‘transfer’ the recordings onto CD via Philips CDR775 audio CD recorder. I still have that recorder, have dug it out and remarkably it still works. I have made a copy and will send it to you. I have listened to the copy on Bandcamp (only on an iPad) and maybe my copy is slightly better?? NB I’m based in the UK.
- Peter Turville

Peter, I'm working on your H&TN tracks today, and they are 1000% better than what we had -- stereo, much better fidelity, much closer to to the master. With minor tweaking (EQ, click removal, dropout repair) they're absolutely going to sound release-quality!

Thanks to Steve Dinsdale for sharing his off-air tapes! And then more thanks to Peter Turville for sending the much improved recordings which you hear here now.

This is a "recording of indeterminate origin," i.e. a bootleg. If you buy it from me it'll be the first time anyone in the band has seen a quid from it.

Richard Sinclair Martina Franca, Italy

The leading voice of the Canterbury Scene. Beginning with the Wilde Flowers, on to Caravan, Hatfield & the North, Camel and all his recent group efforts, Richard Sinclair's singing and bass playing have been a constant source of delight for lovers of Canterbury music.
